The concept of this came together after some conversations with the reporter. She initially had an idea of a checklist, but as I was talking to her about it I thought that we could make into a survival guide. Which really fit the piece especially when considering the current situation and the state of small businesses in the United States.
I used a pretty simply layout and grid. To carry on the theme I wanted the background to be yellow, so I didn’t want to over complicate things by doing a lot with the body copy. I used a large and bold font to create a sense of urgency. And the illustrations were there to really drive home of the theme of the “survival guide”.
