T-shirt design I made for Hawai‘i hip hop label and clothing brand, Lightsleepers. The design was made to honor the legendary James Dewitt Yancey, aka J Dilla, Jay Dee, Pay Jay, and favorite producer's favorite producer. Dilla's last album before he passed was titled "Donuts", and Dilla liked donuts. So in the design "Donuts" is referring to Dilla, meaning that Dilla will live on forever. The blue and orange colorway seen at the top was ultimately chosen for the shirt, though I did have some fun coming up with other combinations. The colors are derived from the Detroit Tigers baseball team, where is Dilla is from.
